Junior IT Project Manager Job in Brisbane

  • Initial 3-month contract with possible extension/permanent role

The Role

This is a perfect opportunity to join a large mining and construction company based on the fringe of Brisbane CBD as a Junior Project Manager. This position plays an important role in assisting the project delivery manager in coordinating projects within the information technology department. It will require some travel throughout Australia to head office and various client sites.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in managing (or assisting) and delivering IT related projects (ideally in the mining/construction sector)
  • Highly motivated to achieve results – outcome orientated
  • Prepare and manage project management artefacts
  • Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders
  • Current Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2)
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain sound working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly developed skills in computer literacy, particularly in the area of Standard Operating Environment (SOE) products – Microsoft Word, Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated abilities in the areas of problem solving, issues management, negotiation, and presentation
  • Skills in professional project management techniques and practices i.e. Integration, Scope, Schedule, Cost, Quality, Human Resource, Communications, Risk and Procurement


  • Manage and coordinate the planning and delivery of project activities
  • Deliver to the customer all facets of project performance, often exceeding their expectations through the application of Customer Care’s project delivery methodology
  • Be the single point of contact for all project communications, including change management correspondence and status reporting, for all key stakeholders
  • Achieve project deadlines and overall project objectives including the delivery of the project on time, within scope and within the agreed allocated hours
  • Identify and resolve project schedule issues and when necessary escalate to the appropriate level of management
  • Oversee all project documentation
  • Regularly communicate with users, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Actively identify and escalate risks, issues and dependencies to program leadership
  • Implement and adhere to project governance and frameworks
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and take own meeting notes
